Visiting faculty: Anup Raj Upreti
Anup Raj Upreti is the Managing Partner of Pioneer Law Associates in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is a Licensed Advocate of the Nepal Bar Council and has been practicing corporate and commercial law for more than 20 years.
Upreti has been associated with the School of Law since November 2016 and is committed to delivering 12 hours of lectures every year, mainly on Company Law. He covers various practical aspects and trends in the global markets for this subject.
Upreti regularly advises clients on a range of transactional matters, including foreign investment, project finance, and private equity. He also represents clients in commercial litigation, both locally and internationally. Upreti has been involved in legal reform projects, including those covering banking and finance, corporate, insolvency, and hydropower laws.
In recognition of his outstanding knowledge and service delivery to clients, Chambers Asia Pacific 2015 ranked Upreti as a leading individual in the practice of general business law in Nepal. He specializes in financial laws, foreign investment, private equity, and capital markets. Upreti also has extensive experience in the areas of telecommunications, taxation, energy and project finance, and has a keen interest in dispute resolution and legal and regulatory reforms.
Upreti completed his LLM in Banking and Financial Laws from Queen Mary University of London, UK (2005-2006), Bachelor in Laws from Cardiff Law School, University of Wales, UK (2000-2002), and Bachelor in Laws from ILS Law College, University of Pune, India (1997-2000).
