Professor Vinod Kumar Dixit has a long teaching career in Jurisprudence, Law and Society, Sociology of Law, Constitutional law, Administrative Law, Competition law, Law of Contract, Labour Law and Research Methodology. He will be teaching Jurisprudence to the BBM,LL.B first semester students at Kathmandu University School of Law during August and September 2014.

Dixit has LL.M from Aligarh Muslim University and Ph.D from University of Delhi. He retired as Professor of Law from University of Delhi after teaching there for 31 years, where he remains superannuated in teaching capacity. Dixit also taught at Aligarh Muslim University, University of Rajasthan, University of Warwick UK, and National Judicial Academy of India. Following 2005, when he retired from the University of Delhi, he has spent most of his time as visiting professor at Hidayatullah National Law University Raipur, National Law Institute University Bhopal and Indian Law Institute New Delhi, and other institutions.

Dixit has his research contributions in the area of dispute settlement process in the non-state legal system of Meenas of Rajasthan, customary law in Meghalaya, concept of dowry and bride price, the dowry legislation and social change, personal liberty and social relations, equality and freedom, social justice and social process in India, and tradition and resistance to change. He has also published articles in the area of disability discrimination in classical Hindu law, changing concerns of public interest litigation, and sustainable development and unity of state power, among others. His recent research Caste, Class and Constitutional Reservations was published by National Law Institute University Bhopal in 2009.
