Professor Walter Maier is a German legal consultant. He retired as Professor of Law from the University of Applied Sciences , Ludwigsburg in 2011. He was Professor at the University of Finance , Ludwigsburg during 1976-1998.

Maier studied law at Universities of Heidelberg and Tuebingen during 1966 to 1972. He passed First Law State Examination in 1972. Maier worked as legal apprentice. During 1972-1975, He passed Second Law State Examination from State of Baden- Wuerttemberg. He also had special finance and tax studies at the Federal Finance Academy during 1976-77.

Apart from serving as the Professor of Law, Maier worked as rector of the University of Finance Ludwigsburg in 1998. After the merger of the University of Finance and University of Applied Sciences , he was vice rector for six years (1999 – 2005) and rector (2006 – 12/2011) for another six year.

Professor Walter Maier's area of expertise are constitutional law, private and public law, tax law and business law. He has 60 publications in these fields of law. He has published the 5th edition of his textbook "Constitutional and European Law" recently. He regularly gives lectures to exchange students in the Erasmus programme to the present day on "Constitutional and European Law."

Professor Maier will be teaching students of Constitutional Law during the month of November and also providing orientation to the faculty members on legal pedagogy.
